Nightmare weekend after horror crash

Racer Martin Jessopp has lifted the lid on a “nightmare” weekend which left him confined to a hospital bed

Jessopp was hurled from his Ridersmotorcycles.com BMW during the third lap of Friday’s practice session at Knockhill, Scotland.

Jessopp suffered a broken coccyx, internal bleeding and heavy bruising after the massive highside.

After spending a night in hospital near the Fife course he has now returned to south Somerset – and faces a race against time to be fit for the next BSB meet.

The 27-year-old said: “It was nothing short of a nightmare.

“It was strange being back on the bike during the first session because we’ve had a few weeks off, but it was good getting back up to speed.

“Everything was going well but then on the third lap of the second session I went across the chicane towards the back straight, run the kerb with a maximum amount of lean and the back just threw me off."
