Isle of Man TT 2016: Martin Jessopp just misses out on top ten finish as Michael Dunlop triumphs

THE Isle of Man TT 2016 has come to a conclusion with a thrilling final race.

Michael Dunlop won the Blue Riband Senior TT, beating second-placed Ian Hutchinson by 13 seconds and securing a lap record 133.962mph in the process.

For Yeovil's Martin Jessopp a 12th-place finish was frustrating in that he just missed out on a top ten, but concluded what has been a generally positive visit to the famous Snaefell Mountain Course for the 30-year-old.

It had been a difficult start to the week for Jessopp after the death of his friend Paul Shoesmith and an opening race day that saw technical problems forcing him to retire in the Supersport and Superstock.

However, a 14th-place in the second Supersport race and a first ever podium at the TT in the Lightweight class - finishing third - ensured he went into the Senior TT on a high.

With things having now come to an end in the Isle of Man, there is no rest for Jessopp as he prepares for the fourth round of British Superbikes meets at Knockhill on June 24 to 26.
